Pan-European Entrepreneur Forum “Growing Together”

On the occasion of the pan-European Entrepreneur Forum “Growing Together”, an event organized on April 6 2022 in Athens by BPI-France and the Greek public banks Hellenic Development Bank (HDB) and Hellenic Development Bank of Investment (HDBI), a cooperation between several European public banks was signed to boost the financing capacities of European development capital funds in technological SMEs.

The European cooperation aims to increase the capacity of European development capital funds to provide last-minute financing to technology companies based in the EU, specifies a press release from BPI-France. “Over the next 3 to 5 years, 3.3 billion euros will be mobilized under this agreement, thus supporting the development of European technological leaders on a global scale”.

This agreement was signed by five national public banks and European investment institutions: BPI-France (France), KfW Capital (Germany), Tesi (Finland), Hellenic Development Bank of Investments (Greece) and Vækstfonden (Denmark).

At the same time, Greek development banks signed other agreements with their European counterparts. Among them is an agreement between HDBI and BPI-France aimed at accelerating the growth of investment fund managers for the benefit of equity financing of Greek companies.

“These memorandums of understanding, specifies BPI-France, aim to improve growth opportunities and aim to strengthen financing mechanisms to mobilize investment and support SMEs. In addition, these MoUs aim to attract equity investments and foster outward-looking and competitive Greek entrepreneurship, including through the established platform “InnoAgora powered by HDB”, which is a Greek community within EuroQuity-BPI-France, the online matchmaking platform aimed at creating and maintaining a professional and qualified network for the collaboration of investors and entrepreneurs at European level”. The main mission of HDB is to support SMEs by facilitating their access to funding sources.

Finally, it should be noted that an important agreement has been signed between the HDB and the Public Gas Company of Greece (DEPA) concerning the “White Dragon” project, aimed at the development of an innovative integrated green hydrogen project in Greece. Its objective is to create a new ecosystem of companies in the field of green energy, through the planning of joint support actions and the effective use of our financial tools for companies operating in the field of green energy.
